James 'Larry' Malone

James “Larry” Malone, 74, passed away peacefully August 29, 2016 at his home in Rogue River, Ore.

Larry was born in Grants Pass, raised in Gold Hill, and graduated from Crater High School. Upon graduation, Larry joined the United States Navy and spent 20 years seeing the world while in service. After completing his military service, Larry returned to southern Oregon and fulfilled a lifelong desire to drive logging trucks, which he did until his retirement.

Larry was a devoted husband and spent his retirement engaging daily activities with Sharon, his loving wife of 43 years. He also enjoyed auto-related activities, and as such, he was a regular at local car shows and enjoyed a good dirt track race. Larry also followed NASCAR, and driver, Matt Kenseth now has one less loyal supporter.

Larry is survived by his wife; sisters, Sylvia Morgan and Lavon Saxbury; daughter, Kelly Cooley; and stepchildren, Rhonda and Kenny Hughes. Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Edith and James Malone and his son, James.

At Larry’s request, no services will be held.
