Patrick E. Manion

July 7, 1922 - August 20, 2016

Patrick E. Manion passed away August 20, 2016 in Medford, Ore. He was born July 7, 1922 in Trinidad, Colorado to John and Abbie Manion.

Pat, as everyone called him, entered the United States Air Force December 11, 1942 where he served 23 years until he retired as a Chief Master Sergeant. He spent much of his retirement as an elementary school teacher with the Central Point School District. Pat was also an avid musician. Starting at age 12, Pat learned to play guitar, banjo, and fiddle. He even had his own band in high school that played at many high school dance events. In his later years, you could find Pat playing for the local community square dancers, teaching guitar and fiddle to students, as well as serving as chairperson of the Oregon Old Time Fiddlers District 4 Association.

Pat is survived by his companion of 20 years, Joan Allgood; his son, Ross Manion; daughters, Leslie Sessions and Denise Campagna; and six grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at Perl Funeral Home at Siskiyou Memorial Park. He will be interred with military honors at 1:00 p.m. at Eagle Point National Cemetery, Eagle Point, Ore.
