Arnold Martin Depner

Our dear father, Arnold Martin Depner passed away November 1, 2016 in Medford, Ore. He was born January 19, 1916 on a homestead in Edgar, Mont.
Arnold graduated from Montana State University (Bozeman) in 1936 and from the California School of Podiatric Medicine (San Francisco) in 1939. Arnold and Helen (Swan) were married in September 1940, and began their married life in Long Beach, Calif. In October of 1941 they moved to Medford where Arnold, as the area’s first podiatrist, began his practice until his retirement in 1982.
Arnold will be remembered for his great sense of humor, devoted love of family, genuine compassion, and strong sense of civic and social responsibility. Arnold served his community in many capacities such as Ward 2 City Councilman, Knights of Columbus - 4th Degree, St. Mary’s School Board, Sacred Heart Parish Council, and the local Elks Club.
He will be greatly missed by his five children, Sister Carol, SCL, of Denver, Colo.; Tom, M.D. (Celeste) of Sacramento; Bill (Brenda) of Medford; Anne of Portland; and Mark (Linda) of Medford. He also leaves five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; brothers, Earl, Arthur, and Ed; and sisters, Patricia and Rita. Arnold was preceded in death by his wife, Helen; his parents, Katherine (Gerber) and Martin Arnold Depner; sister, Helen (Nordlund); and Sister Mary Depner, SCL.
The family wishes to thank his loving caregivers at Home Instead and Avamere at Three Fountains. A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Monday, November 7, 2016 at Sacred Heart Church, with a Rosary service at 6:00 p.m. Sunday, November 6, at Perl Funeral Home in Medford. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to Sacred Heart Church, 517 West 10th Street, Medford, Ore.
