Virginia R. Dochterman
November 4, 1923 - October 27, 2017
Virginia R. Dochterman went to be with our Lord October 27, 2016 in Medford, Oregon. She was born November 4, 1923 to parents, Walter and Rowena Fletcher in Wyaconda, Missouri. Virginia married Charles Dochterman after his return from World War II and proceeded to create a family with four children.
Virginia was an accomplished pianist and organist throughout her life while working as an independent genealogist and raising her children. After the children were grown Virginia worked as a librarian assistant for the State of Iowa Historical Archives in the Iowa State Capitol for many years until her retirement.
Virginia kept her passion for music going from her early years until the end of her life. She most recently entertained many of her co-residents at her assisted living facility with the sound of music from the nimble hands God granted her use of to the end.
Virginia was survived by her son, Frederick D. Dochterman, who has since also passed away. She is survived by her daughters, Debra J. Merriman of Ashland, Ore. and Corliss A. Reineke of Edgerton, Mo.; 13 grandchildren; and as many great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles N. Dochterman; and son, Walter N. Dochterman.
Arrangements were made by Siskiyou Memorial to remain in the Siskiyou Rose Garden in Medford, Ore.
