Eugene F. Donahoo

Eugene F. Donahoo, 94, passed away May 10, 2017. He was born February 13, 1923 in Cartersville, Georgia to Eugene Elmer Donahoo and Mary Ann Tracy Donahoo. He was raised in Texas and Oklahoma.
Eugene joined the National Guard's 45th Division. When President Roosevelt mobilized the unit, Gene served with the 45th Division and 15th Air Force in Italy. He was awarded eight Battle Participation Stars and one Presidential Unit Citation.
After discharge from military service he worked for Conoco Oil in Kansas, Wyoming, and Colorado. He moved on to a job as a lineman for Southwestern Bell Telephone in Oklahoma. During this time he met his furure wife, Rose Marie Walden. They married in Oklahoma in 1949. Gene transferred to Pacific Northwest Bell in Medford in 1953.
Gene and Rose loved the outdoors and fished the lakes, rivers, and Pacific Ocean on most weekends. They also enjoyed water ski adventures and many road trips in their motor home. In 1979 they visited Europe where he had served in WWII.
Gene was an active member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church since his move to Medford. He loved the Lord and cherished his many friends there. He was also active in the Telephone Pioneers after retirement.
Gene is survived by many nieces and nephews. He had a very long, loving life and was ready for his next adventure. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rose; his two brothers, Elmer Donahoo and Bill Donahoo; and three sisters, Jane Fink, Joann Ostrander, and Sue Gaston.
A graveside service will be held. In lieu of flowers, Gene requested memorial contributions to the Medford Gospel Mission.
