Betty Mae Rogers
March 25, 1921 - June 8, 2017
Betty Rogers, 96, was born in Elkhart, Indiana, the eldest of three children born to Ward Bishop McCartney and Mabel (Juni) McCartney. She graduated from Elkhart High in 1939, and Purdue University in 1942.
Betty met Dallas K. Rogers in high school, and they were married Dec. 2, 1944. They were married for 50 years before Dallas died. Dallas was a B-17 navigator during WWII. Betty and Dallas had three sons: Robert, Brian, and David. Betty was a wife and mother, and worked 20 years for Los Angeles County Library. While they raised their sons, she was a stay-at-home mom, while Dallas worked as an art consultant for the West Covina School District, 1954 to 1971.
In retirement, they moved to Medford, where Betty was kept busy with Mended Hearts, AAUW, 1st Presbyterian Church, and their grandchildren. Later, she moved to Fountain Plaza, where she lived for 14 years.
She is survived by her sister, Prisilla (Bob) Johnson; her children, Robert (Shari) Rogers, Brian (Neola) Rogers, and David (Trinka) Rogers; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
At memorial service is to be held at First Baptist Church, 649 Crater Lake Ave., Medford, on Saturday, June 17, 2017 at 10:00 a.m.
