Opal E. Stroup
August 3, 1925 - May 30, 2017
Opal passed away May 30, 2017 in her home. Opal was born August 3, 1925 to Belle and Jonathon Miller in Kearney, Nebraska. When she was ten months old, she came to Medford, Oregon with her mother.
She was married to the love of her life, Walter Dail Stroup, November 27, 1941, and to that union were born two sons, John Walter and Richard Allen.
Opal worked for Parker Woods Department Store and the Elections Board. She was past president of the Medford Emblem Club. Opal held an office since becoming a charter member in 1959, until health issues caused her to retire.
While raising her sons she was active as a room mother, PTA president, and den mother.
Her husband was a founding member of the Rogue Riders of Medford. They were active in all the events and enjoyed many motorcycle rides together.
Upon Walter's retirement, they traveled and lived in Yuma and the Phoenix, Arizona area. When in Medford they were active in many events happening in their mobile home park, especially the ice cream socials.
Opal is survived by her son, John Stroup and daughter-in-law Frances Stroup; many grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter; son, Richard; and daughter-in-law, Mary Lou.
At her request, no service is planned. After cremation, her remains will be scattered with her husband's.
The family is extremely grateful to all of Opal's friends at "Aspen By The Creek" mobile home park. Thank you all for looking in on mom, the food (especially Cathy's soup), moving her trash bins, visiting with her, and all the other kindnesses shown to her.
She is at peace now.
