Betty La Jeanne (Cady) Hayward

October 17, 1932 - June 30, 2017

Betty La Jeanne (Cady) Hayward, 84, passed away peacefully June 30, 2017at Avamere of Three Fountains in Medford, Oregon with her brother, Victor and sister-in-law, Mary Cady by her side.

Betty was born October 17, 1932 in Medford, Ore. to Harold and Edna (Hanscom) Cady.

On September 4, 1949 Betty married Clarence Joel Hayward. They lived in Central Point, Ore. They had three children and enjoyed 67 years of marriage.

Betty was a homemaker, wonderful wife to Clarence, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. As a young girl she cared for her siblings like they were her own. She raised her own children, and at one point became a foster mother to many other children.

She was a school bus driver for Rogue River Junior Academy for several years. She worked for Beebe Farms as a pear packer and store clerk until she began her own business, Betty’s Greenhouse, which she continued until retirement.

Betty enjoyed being with her family and friends, gardening, roller skating, camping, backpacking, and traveling. She was a lifetime member of the Medford SDA Church where she was very active as a cradle roll leader, head deaconess, and Pathfinder counselor.

She was very special, a bright and shining star, to all who knew her. She always wanted to help others in need and will be truly missed by many.

She is survived by sons, Lonnie Hayward and Joel Hayward (Jenny); daughter, Toni Zacharias (Lloyd); thirteen grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; brothers, Victor Cady (Mary) and Lee Clark Sr;, sisters, Delores Oberst and Linda Mason; and sister-in-law, Jan Cady.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, one sister, and one grandson.

Special thanks to DaVita Rogue Valley Dialysis for the many years of caring, Asante Rogue Regional Medical for all their caring staff, Senior Solutions, Avamere of Three Fountains Providence Pallia-   tive Care and Hospice, and all the wonderful caregivers. Thanks to all of the wonderful friends and members of the church for their help and support during this difficult time; our parents were very blessed for all the wonderful people in their lives.
