Ruth Evangeline Baker
March 11, 1919 - September 5, 2017
Ruth Evangeline Baker, 98, passed away at her home in Phoenix, Oregon with her loving family by her side. She was born Ruth Evangeline Loitz, the eldest of four children, in Wilmington, California to William and Mary Loitz.
Ruth married Dale Baker March 17, 1946. They shared over 71 lovingly happy years together as man and wife. Ruth gave birth to twin daughters in January, 1947 in Denver, Colorado. Karen and Sharon were privileged to call Ruth their mother, with pride and devotion.
Ruth was a quiet, introspective lady, always steadfast in her belief, who demurred to those around her many times, but whose softly-spoken words held great weight. She was truly "the wind beneath our wings" and will be greatly missed by every one of us.
Ruth is survived by her husband, Dale; daughters, Karen (Jim) VanSant and Sharon (Bert) Pierce; four grandchildren, Lisa (Aaron) Greene, Matthew VanSant, Marcy Pierce, and Bethany Pierce (Marc); three great-grandchildren, Mackenna Greene, Dale VanSant, and Sam VanSant. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Nellie and Iona; and one brother, William.
It would have been incredibly difficult to comfortably assist Mom in her journey without Providence Home Health Care nurse, Mike, and the care, compassion, kindness, knowledge, and love from the folks at Providence Hospice. Brenda, Mary, Sarah, and Christy, thank you from our entire family for making this experience easier for us.
