Audrey Maxine Casebeer

September 2, 1929 - September 2, 2017

Audrey Maxine Casebeer, née Marier, passed away September 2, 2017 from a massive stroke on her 88th birthday in Medford, Oregon.

Audrey was born in Delores, Colorado and came to Oregon to live with her eldest brother James Marier near Glide, Ore., after her parents died in Saratoga, Wyoming. She graduated from Glide High School in 1948. She married Robert L. Casebeer August 31, 1950. She attended college at what is now Southern Oregon University, and Multnomah School of the Bible. She graduated from Southern Oregon with an elementary education degree in 1956, and she completed three years of graduate study, including a summer at the American University of Mexico in Mexico City.

Audrey started and led a Pioneer Girls program for four years at Glide Baptist Church, and led and directed a Campfire Girls program at Riddle and later at Talent, Ore. for a total of 10 years. She taught sixth grade for nearly 10 years in Riddle, Ore., and she was a physical education teacher at Ashland Middle School for one year. She also volunteered to teach ceramics classes to over 450 students per year at Talent Elementary School for 33 years after she and her husband moved to Talent, Ore. She was selected as "Volunteer of the Century" during Women’s History Month by Talent Historical Society in 2000.

Audrey and her husband completed 67 years of marriage two days before she passed away. They adopted three children, Kimberly Ann Salas, former owner of Talented Touch in Talent; Kevin Casebeer of Aloha, Ore.; and Jeffery Casebeer (deceased). Audrey’s grandchildren include Jacob and Jeremy Mahon; Amber Miranda; Kaitlynn Marci Casebeer; Ashely Casebeer Hodges; Michael Cook; and Jennell, Jamie, Jennie, and Rayman James Salas. Two great-grandchildren can be added to this list, Camilla Miranda and Paelyn Cook.

Audrey’s was a full and active life. Her frequent comment indicates her attitude, "There are so many interesting things to do. I could live ten lives and never come close to doing all the things I would like to do."

A memorial celebration of her life will be held at 2:00 p.m. September 24, 2017 at Talent Elementary School, where she volunteered for so many years.
