Kenneth H. Bergeson

Kenneth H. Bergeson, 71, of Central Point, passed away at home following a two-year battle with cancer. He was born October 26, 1945 at the naval hospital in Alameda, California.

A 1963 graduate of Siuslaw High School in Florence, Mr. Bergeson went on to graduate from the University of Oregon with a degree in journalism. He worked for 25 years at Freightliner and retired from that organization. He was an avid "car guy," otterhound lover, and photographer. He liked motorcycles, gardening, and cooking spicy food. He did a crossword puzzle every day. He loved the sound of Pink Floyd and requested that it be played at his final celebration. He was a member of the Ashland Elks.

He is survived by his wife, Michelle McKenna of Central Point; three children, Rebecca Miller (James) of Gresham, Kimberly Bergeson of Molalla, and John H. Bergeson (Brenda) of Rhododendron; a brother, William T. Bergeson of Bothell, Washington; six grandchildren, Dylan of Wallaceburg, Ontario, Canada, Jasper Bergeson of Molalla, Caleb and Zachary Miller of Gresham, and Amelia and Kenneth Bergeson of Rhododendron; and a niece, Regine O'Neil, of Boston. His parents, Kenneth H. and Natalie Beagle Bergeson, of Medford, preceded him in death, as did Linda Cardwell Bergeson, his first wife and the mother of his children.

A celebration of life will be held at 5:00 p.m. October 1, 2017 at the Gateway Elks Club in Portland. His remains will be scattered on the sand dunes near Florence at a private family gathering, the date to be determined.
