Rev. Jesse L. Vandevender

Rev. Jesse L. Vandevender of Medford, Oregon passed away peacefully the morning of September 29, 2017. He was born February 9, 1925 in Enid, Oklahoma, the beloved son of Alvin and Ellen Vandevender.
Jesse was well known for his evangelical preaching and his love for people. He co-pastored with his wife Nannie in Foursquare churches located in Hastings, Nebraska; Camarillo, California; Downy Ave in Paramount, Calif.; and Medford, Ore. and assisted in Grants Pass, Ore. He raised Charolais cattle as a hobby, and loved horseback riding and hunting with his sons and grandsons. He was also involved in cattle auctions across the state even acting as auctioneer from time to time. He shared his love and passion for cattle ranching, auctions, and horses with all of his grandchildren, some still working in the industry today. Jesse and Nannie ran a successful candy and gift shop in the Rogue Valley for 30 years before retiring in 1998. He will be best remembered for his gift of healing and miracles, his love and dedication to his family, and his strong faith in God.
Jesse leaves behind his loving wife of 74 years, Nannie Vandevender; two sons, Jesse Paul Vandevender and Kay, William Mark Vandevender and Deanna; six grandchildren, Stefanie, Jason, Cynthia, Serenna, Markie, and Jillian; 15 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother, Frank Russell and daughter, Rowena Gayella Whitehead.
A private memorial service will be held with close family and friends.
