Mary 'Eleanor' Jones
June 19, 1924 - October 7, 2017
Mom was reunited with her husband in Heaven, October 7, 2017 with some of her family present at her home. Eleanor was born June 19, 1924 in Holt, Alabama.
Eleanor lived most of her 93 years in Medford, Oregon. While in high school, she worked for JCPenney Department Store and Bryce Mental Hospital in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. She met A.V. Jones "Honey" when he was home on leave from the Army. They married October 20, 1943 in Alabama and moved to Medford. She always missed her family in Alabama, her mother, Maggie Crowder; father, Fleetwood (Fleet) Crowder; brothers, James and Roy Crowder; and extended family. Her younger brother, Roy always thought of her as another mother for her devotion and caring of him.
Eleanor returned as often as possible for family reunions. She also enjoyed their visits to Medford and loved to show them good old Southern hospitality Medford style. Her love of cooking and feeding all who entered her home gave her the reputation for great rhubarb and apple pies. She enjoyed camping, fishing, gardening, knitting, embroidery, crocheting, canning, milking cows, and taking care of farm animals on their small farm.
Eleanor leaves behind daughters, Patricia Henninger, Beverley Hidde, and Nita Jones-Coady (Tom); and son, Ronald Jones (Rita). She was blessed with 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren, as well as nine step-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; her brother, James; son-in-law, Stan Henninger; and granddaughter, Elena Rocha.
