Phyllis Ann Walker

March 10, 1950 - October 12, 2017

Phyllis Ann Walker, 67, of Medford, Oregon passed away after a courageous three-year battle against ALS. Phyllis was born in Portland, Ore. to Orville K. and Evangeline Mae (Marcott) Jordan. Her childhood was filled with sports like softball and tennis as well as camping, fishing, and clamming trips to the coast with her family.

After graduating from Roosevelt High School in 1968, Phyllis came to Ashland, Ore. to attend SOC (now SOU) to become a teacher. Phyllis was a member of the varsity tennis team, and at one time was the number one women's single player.

In the fall of 1970, thru mutual friends, Phyllis met her future husband, Dan, on a blind date. On June 19, 1971 they were married in Portland, Ore. Soon, their two sons came along, Chris in November 1972 and Jeff in February 1975. Phyllis resided with her family in Southern Oregon the rest of her life.

Phyllis and Dan enjoyed two hobbies. One was camping all over western Oregon with their RV. Phyllis loved the coast, where there were lots of hiking trails and of course miles and miles of beach with thousands of shells and rocks to pick up and bring home. There were also trips to Arizona to visit their son, Chris and his family. Phyllis loved a good campfire and a good glass of wine. The second was traveling all over the western U.S. on their Harley, visiting 11 states, 19 national parks, 11 national monuments, and one salt flat. Heat, cold, rain, snow, hail, and one rattlesnake, Phyllis never complained once. What a trouper!

Phyllis is survived by her husband of 46 years, Dan; her two sons and their wives, Christopher and Heather Walker of Tolleson, Arizona and Jeffrey and Sarah Walker of White City, Ore.; and four grandchildren, Christian, Ashlyn, Elliott, and Sawyer. She is also survived by her brother and his wife, Darryl and Becky Jordan of Malaybalay, Philippines; and two sisters and their husbands, Helen and Dave Kroll of Madison, Wisconsin and Carla and Lonnie Moore of Vancouver, Washington. Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, Orville and Evangeline.

Interment will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, October 20 at Eagle Point National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the ALS Foundation at www.alsa.org in Phyllis's honor.
