Ruth Helen Jarvis

July 6, 1922 - November 17, 2017

Ruth Helen Jarvis, 95, of Medford, passed away November 17, 2017 at Ashley Manor Arrowhead, Medford. Ruth was born July 6, 1922 at the North Star Mine in Hailey, Idaho to Mary E. and Clinton Allen. She grew up in Los Angeles, California.

Ruth worked at Sears during WWII. She met and married her dear Joe Jarvis, a U.S. Navy veteran, who passed away May 12, 2015 at the age of 93. Joe was born in Winslow, Indiana to Agnes and Charles and raised in Plainfield where he worked the family farm until joining the U.S. Navy.

The two were married in 1944 and moved to Ashland in 1949. They worked together in many businesses, including Belview Dairy, Ashland and Fyr Fyter Sales and Service, Medford. Joe took in trade Ashland’s first fire truck. Next they owned a franchise called Little Pigs Restaurant, later changed to Char Broiler. They began a career in real estate, building low-income housing and subdivisions.

Joe and Ruth were members of the Lions, Elks Club, and had been members of Grace Lutheran, Ashland and St. Peter Lutheran, Medford.

They raised their three children in the Medford-Ashland area; Judy Hubler (Steve), Medford; Jo Anne Scheidler (Bill), Battleground, Wash.; and Jerry Jarvis (Teresa), Ashland. They are also survived by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They are loved by many friends.

They are laid to rest at Memory Gardens, Medford, Ore.
