Daniel S. Horton
April 19, 1971 - January 8, 2018
Daniel S. Horton, 46, passed away January 8, 2018. He was born in Portland, Oregon, and moved to Medford, Ore., at six weeks old with his new parents, Joyce and Warren Horton.
Dan graduated with honors from North Medford High School in 1989, and was class Valedictorian. He earned a scholarship to Occidental College in Los Angeles, California and studied in France his junior year. Dan was first chair violin with his high school orchestra and with the Rogue Valley Youth Symphony Orchestra. He loved traveling, white water rafting, hiking, good food, intellectual conversation, and hanging out with friends and family. Dan worked for corporations in Los Angeles, New York, and San Francisco.
Dan is survived by his parents, Joyce and Warren Horton. He also leaves behind aunts and uncles, Vivian Grisham, Central Point, Ore.; Ernie and Ginger Horton, Clackamas, Ore.; Mike and Marilyn Horton, Beaverton, Ore.; Henry and Janice Mack, Central Point, Ore.; Ron and Christine Winter, Gold Hill, Ore.; Cecil and Vicki Johnson, Salt Lake City Utah. He is also survived by 21 first cousins, and 23 first and second removed nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were grandparents Jay and Maxine Horton, and Cecil and Beulah Johnson, along with one uncle Gene Grisham.
A celebration of Dan’s life will be held April 21, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at Medford First Christian Church, 1900 Crater Lake Ave. Donations may be made to National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
