Kevin Suggs

March 21, 1985 - March 7, 2018

Kevin Suggs passed away unexpectedly March 7, 2018 in Ashland, Oregon, at the age of 32. He was born March 21, 1985 in Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.

He is a 2007 graduate of Florida State University with a degree in economics. After graduation, Kevin had a brief career as an insurance underwriter in Atlanta, Georgia, before leaving that behind to pursue his love of the mountains and great outdoors. He became a successful entrepreneur while living in Lake Tahoe, California; Mt. Shasta, Calif.; and finally, Ashland, Ore.

Kevin was an especially accomplished skier and snowboarder and loved sharing his expertise by teaching others how to enjoy the sport and the mountains. He was a loving son, a dedicated brother, and would do anything to help a friend. He was a passionate fan of Florida State football and often traveled to watch his beloved Seminoles play at home or in Bowl games. He attended these games with his close friends whom he cherished. He will be remembered as an especially kind man who lived life to the fullest.

Kevin is survived by his father, Joe Suggs; stepmother, Maura Suggs; siblings, Christy Sherban and brother-in-law Alan Sherban, Erin Suggs, Lauren Suggs, and Trevor Magruder; stepfather, Scott Magruder; grandparents, John and Priscilla Butterfield; aunts, Diane Fiore, Andrea Turner, Retha Suggs, Susanna Summers, Molly Butterfield, and Jill Butterfield; uncles, Ed Summers, Andy Butterfield, Steve Turner, and Rob Fiore; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; and, of course, his beloved dog, Baxter who traveled the mountains wherever Kevin went. He was preceded in death by his mother, Wendy Butterfield Magruder.

A funeral Mass is scheduled at 11 a.m. March 14, 2018 at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Jacksonville Beach, Florida, with a gathering of friends and family to follow at Lynch’s Irish Pub. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Kevin’s life. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Keep Tahoe Blue (www.keeptahoeblue.org).
