Sally Marie Shinkle

October 19, 1938 - February 28, 2018

Sally Marie Shinkle, 79, passed peacefully February 28, 2018 at home in Medford, Oregon with family by her side. She was born October 19, 1938 in Rife, Washington to Henry James and Marie Shields (Belcher). She attended school in Myrtle Point and Bridge, Ore. She married Jerry, the love of her life July 1, 1955 in Bridge, Ore. They enjoyed 54 wonderful years together raising their family.

Sally enjoyed entertaining family and friends whether it was camping, backyard barbecues, or pinochle card game gatherings at their home. She enjoyed watching her grandchildren's and great- grandchildren's sporting events, plus keeping current on the activities of family and friends.

A late-stage diagnosis of ALS caused limited communication during Sally's final days. Many family and friends were able to visit and say their goodbyes. Those visits were very comforting and helped get through the difficult days at the end.

Sally is survived by her sister, Sandra Harper (Shields) of Coos Bay; children, Lois Engle and her husband, David of Central Point, James Shinkle and his wife, Annette of Columbia City, Mark Shinkle and wife, Luz of Allyn, Wash., and Thomas Shinkle and wife, Melanie of Central Point; eight grandchildren; five great- grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her spouse, Jerry Milo Shinkle; son, Jerry David Shinkle; and brothers, Fred Shields and James Shields.

Memorial contributions may be made to Junior Comet Sports (honoring J.D. Shinkle), Tax ID #93-1044004, P.O. Box 1038, Gold Hill, OR 97525 or Signature Hospice, Tax ID #20-3033510, 834 S. Front, Central Point, OR 97502.
