Louis W. Haussler

Louis W. Haussler, 81, passed away March 13, 2018 at Rogue Regional Medical Center. He was born December 22, 1936 in Cambridge, Nebraska to William and Opal Haussler.
He was raised on a farm in Nebraska that was homesteaded by his great-great-grandfather in 1889. His education began in a one-room schoolhouse and he graduated from Holbrook High School in 1954. In 1955 he joined the U.S. Navy. While in the Navy, he was a Class "A" Metalsmith. He spent the majority of his service time on sea duty. After serving four years in the Navy, he was honorably discharged in February 1959, and relocated to Medford, Oregon.
In June of 1959, he was united in marriage to Shirley J. Lamb raising one daughter and one son. He started his employment working as a steel fabricator/welder for Medford Steel, a millwright for Boise Cascade Corporation, and a steel fabricator for CWI. During that time, he also proudly accomplished the construction of two homes for his family.
In 1970, he received his private and commercial pilots license and enjoyed flying across the country with his family. His hobbies included hunting and ocean fishing on the Oregon Coast. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed the time he spent in his garden. He also found pleasure in carving and making replicas of black powder rifles.
He is survived by his spouse, Shirley; son, Jerry; grandson, Joshua; granddaughter, Kaylene Skiles-Ward, great-granddaughter, Rayleigh Ward; son-in-law, Danny Skiles; brother-in-law, Wilbur Hinkle; sisters-in-law, Linda (John) Swartsfager and Carolyn Lamb; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Sandra Skiles; grandson, Cory Skiles; two sisters, Jeannie Vojta and Janice Brackenburg; sister-in-law, Marie Hinkle; and brother-in-law, Frank Lamb.
