Efton Gene Jones

October 7, 1931 - April 14, 2018

Efton Gene Jones passed away the morning of April 14, 2018. He was 86 years old. He was born October 7, 1931 in Dallas, Oregon, the youngest of 12 children. He spent his early childhood there until his family moved to the Rogue Valley.

Efton was raised in the Medford area and married his childhood sweetheart, Katheryn (Kaytie) Allen, August 16, 1952 in Medford, Ore. Shortly thereafter, he was drafted into the Army where he served in the Korean conflict. He was honorably discharged as a Sergeant in 1954. In May of 1956, the couple, along with their oldest child, Curt, moved to Eureka, California to be the Music Minister of the Apostolic Faith Church. Shortly after arriving in Eureka, he began a career at Pacific Gas and Electric Company. They spent the next 38 years raising their four children and ministering in their church. After retirement, they returned to the Rogue Valley that they loved so much to be closer to friends and family.

Efton was a lifetime member of the Apostolic Faith Church. He loved music, gardening and entertaining. He never met a stranger and he loved bringing visitors home for one of Kaytie’s home cooked meals. In his later years, one of his highlights was attending a music conference in New York City and singing in the famous Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir.

He was preceded in death by the love of his life of 65 years, Kaytie; his parents, Woodson and Clara Jones; and his 11 brothers and sisters. He is survived by his four children, Curt Jones, Jeff Jones, Janel (David) Trotter, and Tami (Cesar) Partida. He had nine grandchildren, Chelsea (John) Mayer, Ashley Trotter, Kaitlyn Trotter, Brittany (Derrick) Nassar, Nick (Morgan) Jones, Allison Jones, Angelina (Kirk) Friesen, Alicia (Jesse) Lewis, and Brandon Partida; ten great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

A Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday April 28, 2018 at the Apostolic Faith Church, 285 Sunrise Ave, Medford, OR.
