George C. Stewart

January 13, 1931 - July 3, 2018

With sadness in our hearts we say goodbye to a wonderful Dad, George C. Stewart, 87, of Medford, Oregon.

George and Lois grew up in Connecticut, where they raised their children. Upon retirement they packed up and ventured across the country to Shady Cove, Ore. It was there that they blissfully lived together under the trees next to the beautiful Rogue River. George was a faithful member of the Upper Rogue United Methodist Church in Shady Cove. It was there that he developed many friendships. After the passing of Lois, George moved to Medford, Ore. and spent many hours volunteering at the Medford Senior Center. He enjoyed bowling in his early years and golfing in his later years.

He is survived by four children, Karen Barr of Fall City, Washington, George Stewart of Meriden, Connecticut, Brian Stewart of Hopkinsville, Kentucky, and Diana Stewart of Meriden, Conn. George is also survived by his younger brother, Robert Stewart of Manchester, New Hampshire; 12 grandchildren, Dawn, Shane, Amanda, George III, Jared, Katie, Carolyn, Elise, Paul, Brittani, Jacob, and Desiree; as well as 13 great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Braedon, Bodie, Sawyer, Julia, William, Ellie, Blair, Drew, Ava, Landon, Aidyn, and Connor.

George was predeceased by the love of his life, Lois Stewart; and older brother, Howard Stewart of Simsbury, Conn.

George will be missed by many whom he made happy just with a kind word and a smile. He will greatly be missed by his family who knew him as a gentle soul and guiding light.

A service for George will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 6, 2018 at the Upper Rogue United Methodist Church, Shady Cove. Arrangements in care of Conger-Morris Medford, 541-772-7111.
