Ella Lorraine Fitzsimmons
May 26, 1929 - July 17, 2018
On July 17, 2018 Ella Lorraine Fitzsimmons (nee Hard) shuffled off her mortal coil and joined Fuzzy in the hereafter in time to celebrate their 69th anniversary together. Ella was born May 26, 1929 on the Klamath Indian Reservation to Lyle and Thelma (Dallas) Hard.
She lived at McKee Bridge on the family homestead and graduated from Jacksonville High School. Ella met Fuzzy while pumping gas at her family-owned station. She caught his eye and they rode off into the sunset on his motorcycle to have many adventures together. They married July 17, 1949 at the Upper Applegate Grange at McKee Bridge.
Ella worked as a lap checker and reporter during Fuzzy’s racing career and an office manager for Fuzzy’s diesel mechanic business, all while taking care of her family and all the stray people they took in over the years. After retirement from the diesel business they moved to Crescent City where they went into the commercial fishing business before moving back to Medford. Ella stayed busy knitting a multitude of items including 100 hats a year for Head Start participants, and many tiny little hats for the local neonatal units.
Ella is survived by her daughters, Robin Lee Fitzsimmons, Laura Waldren, of Watsonville, California, and Roseanna Marie (Ree) Ayres (Reggie) of Medford, Oregon; brothers Harold (Meredith) and William Hard; three grandchildren; and seven great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Dale and Truman Hard; and sister, Bonnie Jones.
No service is planned at this time but order up a Jameson’s and toast her life. Memorial contributions if you are so inclined may be made to Soroptimist International Rogue Valley Sunrise (SIRVS) P.O. Box 195 Medford, OR 97501. Arrangements in care of Perl Funeral Home.
