Rosas named to defend Gold Hill murder suspect
Murder suspect Wiley River Foxx, 18, of Gold Hill, will be represented by defense lawyer Justin Rosas.
Foxx, charged with second-degree murder in the Aug. 19 shooting death of Thomas Watters, 24, of Gold Hill, is being held in Jackson County Jail without bail.
Rosas requested discovery and discovery preservation Thursday to obtain audio and video recordings, police reports as well as other relevant material that could help his client.
Emergency Communications of Southern Oregon received a report at 3:55 a.m. Aug. 19 of gunshots, screaming and subjects fleeing from a location in the 500 block of Gustaf Street in Gold Hill.
Sheriff’s deputies arrived to find Watters unconscious and not breathing with multiple gunshot wounds. Watters was pronounced dead at 4:20 a.m. Foxx was arrested later that day.
Foxx is scheduled to be arraigned Sept. 20 in Jackson County Circuit Court.
