COVID-19 outbreaks remain as year closes out

Statewide, the number of coronavirus cases decreased 10% from the previous week, according to a new report from the Oregon Health Authority.

And its companion document, the weekly COVID-19 outbreak report, showed outbreaks at numerous schools, workplaces, child care centers and senior living facilities in the Rogue Valley.

The following schools in Jackson and Josephine counties saw recent outbreaks. Dec. 17 was the final day of instruction before winter break. Instruction will resume in January.

Evergreen Elementary (five students, zero adults), Fleming Middle School (eight students, zero adults), Fruitdale Elementary (one student, zero adults), Grace Christian School (three students, zero adults), Grants Pass High School (seven students, zero adults), Griffin Creek Elementary (one student, zero adults), Hedrick Middle School (three students, zero adults), Helman Elementary (three students, zero adults), Hidden Valley High School (two students, zero adults), Highland Elementary School (one student, zero adults), Hillside Elementary School (four students, one adults), Howard Elementary School (one students, zero adults), Illinois Valley High School (four students, one adult), Jackson Elementary School (one student, zero adults), Jacksonville Elementary School (two students, zero adults), Jefferson Elementary School (one student, zero adults), Jewett Elementary (one student, one adult), Kennedy Elementary School (one student, three adults);

Table Rock Elementary School (two students, zero adults), Talent Elementary School (two students, one adult), Talent Middle School (one student, zero adults), The Siskiyou School (four students, zero adults), Washington Elementary School (one student, one adult), Williams Elementary (one student, zero adults), Wilson Elementary School (one student, zero adults), Woodland Charter School (one student, zero adults).

The Jackson County Sheriff's Office (five cases) was the only workplace in the county with an active outbreak listed in the report.

In Josephine County, Walmart Supercenter (58 cases), ECS Composites (six cases), Grants Pass Surgery Center (five cases) and WinCo Foods (five cases) were workplaces listed with active outbreaks.

For senior living and similar communities in Jackson County, the report showed one active outbreak at Lakeland Senior Living (three cases, no deaths). No active outbreaks for those types of places were reported in Josephine County.

In Jackson County, Southern Oregon Head Start - Alan S Berlin Campus B (three cases), Rainbow's End Learning LLC (six cases) and Here We Grow (four cases) all had active outbreaks listed in the report.

In Josephine County, Reading Rainbow Child Care (four cases) was the only child care facility with an active outbreak.
