Election Letters, May 14

Vote for Horner

Please vote for Jim Horner for Medford School Board, Position 6. Jim brings an overabundance of experience, achievement and leadership to serve the students, teachers, administration and parents of the Medford School District.

He grew up in an educator’s family, served in the U.S. Army, earned a scholarship to Stanford University, achieving bachelor and masters degrees. He had a highly successful career with Hewlett Packard and their spinoff Agilent Technologies, managed and led projects, then programs, then corporate matters in the United States and worldwide. While working he earned an executive program degree in business, also from Stanford. He retired as vice president and general manager.

He has served on the Medford School District Budget Committee for four years, one year as chairman, and on the Save Ruch School committee, successfully.

Jim Horner is the most highly qualified individual running for this position and deserves your vote.

Vote for Husted

With the constant and inevitable change and a growing community, we need a candidate who sees the big picture, who listens to those who need to be heard and who can provide a solid and promising foundation for our kids and in turn reap a positive spillover into our communities and our society as a whole.

You can tell a lot about a candidate by who stands behind him or her. Are they supported by politicians and unions or are they supported by the people? Kevin Husted is backed by small businesses, parents, teachers, charter schools, neighbors as well taxpayers, professionals, and people who care about their community. Not to mention the official endorsement by this paper. For a real and balanced authentic leadership for the Medford School Board, I urge you to vote Kevin Husted for Position 6.

Voting for Stine

Casey Stine has my vote for the Medford School Board. Not only is Casey a parent of a soon-to-be Medford student, she has done what it takes to be ready on day one. Once elected, I have no doubt she’ll channel the work ethic she’s demonstrated throughout the campaign in order to relentlessly advocate for all students. Please join me and vote Casey Stine!

Moore for School Board

Bret Moore is my choice for the Central Point School Board, Position 2. I was serving on the board when Bret was elected and served with him for about two years.

Bret is very dedicated to the job and has served the district with distinction. While neighboring districts suffered labor strikes, Bret assisted in negotiating teacher contracts that support our teachers and maintain outstanding labor/management relationships. His leadership has allowed the district to get through tough budget years while increasing the graduation rate, student test scores and enrollment.

The students and staff in the Central Point School District deserve the best, and Bret’s knowledge and experience will allow the district to continue to grow and improve.

Vote Bret Moore for Central Point School Board.
