Youth turkey hunting clinic Saturday

ODFW photo There is still space to sign up for a Saturday youth turkey hunting clinic in Central Point.

A youth turkey hunting clinic is scheduled from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Denman Wildlife Area in Central Point.

The clinic, sponsored by the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife and the Oregon Hunters Association, is open to youth age 8 to 17. Registration closes Friday. The cost is $10.

ODFW staff and experienced hunters will discuss turkey biology, Oregon’s turkey hunting opportunities, turkey identification, behavior, sign identification, scouting techniques and hunting tactics. Attendees will leave with the basic skills and some equipment to start on the path toward successful turkey hunting.

The class will be held outside and is limited to 20 participants. Attendees should plan to be accompanied by an adult. Hunter education certification is not required. Lunch will be provided.
