'Step Up'

Le Cirque Centre Pro Dance Theatre Company will present "Step Up," a story told in dance, at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 15, and Saturday, Feb. 16, as well as 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 17, at Le Cirque Centre Theatre, 280 E. Hersey St., Suite 1, Ashland.

"Step Up" tells the story of Tyler, a teen-aged hip-hop dancer who breaks into a performing arts high school, destroys the theatre set, and is sentenced to 200 hours of community service as a janitor in that school.

Tyler turns his life around when he meets Nora, a classically trained dance student at the performing arts school. The story exemplifies the courage it takes to "Step Up" and fulfill your dreams whatever your life circumstances are.

The production features the diverse dynamics included in flying, climbing and falling into wraps and flipping into sequences of strength moves, combining high theatricality of the Le Cirque style, and original choreography.

Dancers include Becca Williams, Chris Lyon, Kevin Weatherby, Amara Levinti and Sem Renee Moore. Ensemble dancers Meghan McNulty, Dominique Moore, Tiana SantaBarbara, Nashala MacNamara, Victoria Lawton-Diez and Michelli Hawkins. Abby Young is featured on violin.

Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for students. Tickets are available at Le Cirque Centre, Music Coop, and Tree House Books, Ashland, or at the door.

Call 301-6804.
