Welcome to Equilibrium
Ashland's Mobius Productions has moved into the MOJO Rising Workshop and Event Studio at 140 Lithia Way in downtown Ashland.
Production manager Marla Welp says the move was due to problems with zoning and occupancy at Mobius' old location on Fourth Street.
"We will miss the old Mobius, but it is time for us to expand and take it to the next level," Welp said in a press release. "We are thrilled about this beautiful new space and have some great shows coming up."
MOJO Rising owner Donella Evoniuk and Mobius & EQ.TV founders Beryl Jacobson, Jason Gallagher and Aaren Glover have agreed to merge their production efforts under the name Equilibrium in the space on Lithia Way.
"I am so excited for the energy and momentum of the Mobius team to bring renewed life to the MOJO building, and thrilled to be a part of it," Evoniuk said in a statement.
The building has served as an event center, concert hall, restaurant and bar in the past and is expected to continue to evolve under the Mobius team's management.
Equilibrium will feature a multimedia production facility and Internet-television broadcast studio, while serving as a live music venue and nightclub.
Past Mobius shows can be seen by visiting connect.eq.tv and clicking on the Watch EQ.TV tab. The site is a social networking site (like Tribe or MySpace) for people who are passionate about music and also the environment.
People can blog, post music, videos, photos, and create groups to discuss topics of common interest, while staying abreast of the activities at the new Equilibrium studios and the work of Equilibrium Institute.
Equilibrium plans a series of daily Web television shows and will continue Mobius and MOJO Risings tradition of hosting fundraisers, workshops, private parties and other special events.
Shows scheduled for the next few days include Gamelan X at 9 p.m. Friday, Feb. 29, and a Poetry Slam at 7 p.m. on the first Monday of the month. Tickets for the Gamelan X show are $10 in advance and $12 at the door. Tickets for the poetry slam are $5.
