Where's the party?
While Memorial Day is a day of remembrance, it's also obscurely known as the first weekend of the summer season. For those without plans to get out of town, here is Tempo's manifesto for finding a good time during the three-day holiday.
If it's a good laugh you need to start your weekend, don't forget the live comedy shows at Chadwick's on Friday and Saturday nights. Marc Yaffee and Mike Jenkins will perform at 8 p.m. May 23-24. Cover is $5. Get there early for a good seat.
For some gritty roots, rock and soul music, check out AnnieMac, featuring vocalist Annie McIntyre, guitarist Joe Diehl, keyboard and harp player Allen Crutcher, bassist Michael St. John and drummer Jim Sitter, at 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday, May 23-24, at 4 Daughters Irish Pub, 126 W. Main St., Medford. The fare at 4 Daughters includes an eclectic menu of Irish and American favorites along with a full bar, and with no cover.

The Rogue Suspects, sans guitarist Jeff Pevar, will be bringing rock 'n' roll to Touvelle Lodge, 9367 Table Rock Road, Central Point, at 7 p.m. Friday. Touvelle has a full bar and puts out a pretty good burger.

Pevar will be joining the Suspects at 9 p.m. Saturday at Alex's Restaurant, 35 N. Main St., Ashland. Cover is $3. Call 482-8818. Pevar also will be joining the Suspects at 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday, May 30-31, at 4 Daughters.
If your barbecue is rained out, take your party to Roscoe's BBQ, 117 S. Main St., Phoenix. This restaurant is becoming famous for its ribs, chicken and brisket. Hog Wild will be performing classic rock at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday at Roscoe's. No cover. Call 512-1046.
