Howie Mandel, Les Claypool at Britt
Stand-up comedian, television host, producer, actor and Hollywood Walk of Famer Howie Mandel will hand out the laughs at 7:30 tonight, June 19, at the Britt Pavilion in Jacksonville. Mandel's career has put him in the spotlight for more than 30 years, from his work on the Emmy Award-winning "St. Elsewhere" to emcee of NBC's "Deal or No Deal," along with many appearances on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" and other TV shows. Visit howiemandel.com for videos and news about Mandel.
Comic John Mendoza will open the show. Mendoza starred in his own Showtime special, "John Mendoza: Over Easy," has appeared on "Late Night with David Letterman" and "The Tonight Show" and headlines at clubs across the country.
Tickets cost $74 for reserved seating and $39 for lawn seating.
On Sunday, June 21, electric bassist Les Claypool will present his slap and flamenco-like playing style at Britt. Best known for his work with rock band Primus, Claypool is equally famous for his wacky sense of humor and eccentric personality. Claypool's newest album is titled "Of Fungi and Foe" and features his trademark hillbilly sing/speak storytelling vocals and progressive rock and metal. Visit wwwllesclaypool.com.
Sunday's show will start at 7 p.m. with a saloon cabaret, The Yard Dogs Road Show. Featuring a mix of vaudeville and rock 'n' roll, the show also includes sword swallowers, fire eaters and hobo poetry. Tickets cost $39 for reserved seating, $25 for lawn seating and $19 for children 12 and younger.
The Mandel and Claypool/Yard Dogs shows contain content that may not be suitable for children. Due to the nature of the Yard Dogs Show, dancing is expected and may disrupt lawn seating in front of the stage.
