Blues at the Bella

The Blues Dusters will perform both familiar and fresh acoustic blues, blues rock and American roots music at 8:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, April 30 and May 1, at Bella Union, 170 W. California St., Jacksonville. The Blues Dusters perform as a duo, John O. Nelson and Leonard Griffie, and as a band, including Richard Lawrence, Michael Vannice, Tom Stamper, Kent Clinkenbeard, Pete Miller, Jim Beatty and Randy and Reneé Jordan. At Bella Union, the duo's acoustic, or unplugged, set will feature blues originals and Delta- and Chicago-style blues from the mid-20th century, including songs by Johnny Lee Hooker, Muddy Waters and Jimmy Reed. The duo is compiling a new album to be released early this summer. The album will feature songs as a duo and with the full band. Their debut album, released four years ago, continues to get airplay on several Internet radio sites. For more information, call 541-899-1770 or visit www.bluesdusters.com.
