CHRISTMAS WITH THE TRAIL BAND: The Portland-based group returns to present two holiday shows at the Craterian Ginger Rogers Theater, 23 S. Central Ave., Medford. The Trail Band was founded in 1991 when Marv and Rindi Ross were commissioned to write a musical celebrating the 150th anniversary of the Oregon Trail. It began presenting its Christmas shows in 1994. Shows are set for 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 4, and 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 5, and will feature a mix of traditional carols and contemporary favorites. Along with the Rosses, the band includes Mick Doherty on hammer dulcimer, Cal Scott on cornet and guitar, Eddie Parente on fiddle and cornet, Dan Stueber on percussion and Phil and Gayle Newman on a variety of instruments. Tickets cost $24 to $30, $17 to $23 for ages 18 and younger and are available at the new Craterian box office, 16 S.
