With three-part harmonies, driving bass, lively percussion and an array of sonic textures, Kabbage knows what it means to groove. The Ashland band will present an energized set of rock, reggae, funk, R&B and soul at 9:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Oct. 7-8, at Alex's Plaza Restaurant, 35 N. Main St., Ashland. Eclectic rock band Lost Maven also is on Friday's bill.
Kabbage was formed in 2004 by vocalist and acoustic guitarist Kekaiolohia Enomoto and guitarist Steve Kane, who were studying guitar at Southern Oregon University. Although the band has featured numerous local musicians, its current configuration is Enomoto, Kane, keyboardist Chris Matthews, bassist George Amall and drummer Reed Bentley. (Saxophone player Nick Waroff and his brother, trombone player Sedi Waroff, form the band's horn section, but they are on hiatus and expected to return in December.)
Cover to Kabbage's Friday show is $5 and its Saturday show is $3. Call 541-482-8818.
