Vocalist Cilette Swann, multi-instrumentalist Roman Morykit, cellist Michal Palzewicz and percussionist Jason Cedar Miller will perform for Gypsy Soul's 10th annual starlight concert at 7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 4, at RoxyAnn Winery, 3285 Hillcrest Road, Medford.
Swann and Morykit will showcase three new songs, which also will appear on the duo's forthcoming studio album, tentatively called "The World is My Country," a title borrowed from a Thomas Payne quote.
The songs include "Where Did We Go Wrong?" a story of reconciliation and redemption; "All the Things," featuring "gorgeous cello work and intricate percussion;" and "Long Gone Baby," an upbeat, Tom Petty-style piece about the "illusions we're conditioned to buy into," Swann says.
After the release of their 11th album this fall, Swann and Morykit plan to spend the rest of the year and next spring touring Europe.
Swann describes Gyspy Soul's sound as "Coldplay meets Sheryl Crow."
"It's smart writing, and it's music for grown-ups," she says. "It's sophisticated pop-rock."
Tickets cost $18 in advance and are available at the winery, Music Coop in Ashland, Willow Creek in Jacksonville, Terra Firma Home in Medford, www.gypsysoul.com and www.brownpapertickets.com. Tickets will cost $22 the day of the show.
Swann's handmade sterling silver jewelry also will be available at the show.
