‘Woodstock Festival Celebration’: It’s 1969, and flower power is alive and well on stage as the Craterian Music Hall pays tribute to the music and performers of the era in “Woodstock Festival Celebration” at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, May 10-11, at the Craterian Theater, 23 S. Central Ave., Medford. The band will rock the music of Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendix, Johnny Winter, Credence Clearwater Revival, Jefferson Airplane, Grateful Dead, Santana, Arlo Guthrie, Canned Heat, Tim Hardin, Joan Baez, John Sebastian, Mountain and many more. Crater Renaissance Academy: Crater High School students, directed by Matthew Reynolds, will present their 11th annual spring dance recital at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, May 17-18, in the Crater Performing Arts Center, 655 N. In addition to 40 CHS students, the show will include special guests: percussionist Jared Brown, singer-songwriter Payten Mercer, Scenic Middle School Dance under the direction of Rebecca Campbell, and Studio Roxander Academy of Ballet. Senior Nikolas Darrough, who is working to raise awareness of teen homelessness, has also created an original work that will premiere at the recital. Youth Symphony of Southern Oregon: Youth Symphony of Southern Oregon and Youth Orchestra, conducted by Cynthia Hutton, closes their Spring Concert Series with a show at 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 17, in the Music Recital Hall, 450 S. Mountain Ave., at Southern Oregon University in Ashland. Additional concerts are at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, May 18, in the Performing Arts Center, 830 N.E. Ninth St., Grants Pass, and 3 p.m. Sunday, May 19, at the Craterian Theater, 23 S. Central Ave., Medford. Youth Symphony will perform orchestral favorites and film music by Gustav Holst, John Williams, John Ottman, Johann Strauss, Sr., Aaron Copland and James Horner. The featured work on the concert program is “The Planets, Suite for Large Orchestra,” by Gustav Holst. The symphony will also play the “March” from John Williams’ iconic score for the 1978 film “Superman,” an arrangement of selections from the 2006 film “Superman Returns” by composer John Ottman, an arrangement of music from the 1995 film “Apollo 13” by James Horner, and “Radetzky March” by Johann Strauss, Sr. Tickets are $10, $5 for students, and can be purchased at Paddington Station in Ashland, Oregon Books in Grants Pass or at the Craterian box office or Artistic Piano in Medford, or at the door. Apple Jam Music Festival: This three-day festival will showcase more than a dozen live bands from the region, arts, crafts and food Friday through Sunday, May 17-19, at the Evans Valley Community Center, 8205 E. Evans Valley Road, Rogue River. Hear music by Blue Lotus, Kinda Bossajova, Eric Leadbetter Band, Moves Collective, The Quick and Easy Boys, The T Club and others. Also look for Sunday open mic, free interactive workshops, performances by Rogue Flow Arts and refreshments from Oberon’s Traveling Tavern. Weekend passes are $75 in advance or $100, cash only, on site and include parking and camping. Day pass is $60, cash only on site. Kids 12 and younger get in free.
