John Coltrane tribute: The Adam Harris Trio — bassist Jeff Addicott, drummer Tom Stamper and pianist Thor Polson — will perform an all-ages tribute to the music of jazz saxophonist, improviser and composer John Coltrane at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 27, at La Baguette Music Café, 340 A St., Ashland. Benefit Concert: Former students of Ashland High School will hold a benefit choir concert in honor of Russ Otte, retired Ashland High School choir teacher, at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 28, in the Mountain Avenue Theater at Ashland High School, 201 S. Mountain Ave., Ashland. Otte, who is now battling cancer, taught in the Ashland school district for 26 years. Admission is free; donations welcome.

‘Concert for the New Year’: A tradition since 2001, “The Concert for the New Year,” featuring local musicians will be presented at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 29, at First Presbyterian Church of Ashland, 1615 Clark Ave. Look for music by such composers as Bach, Bizet, Chopin, Puccini and a bit of traditional Irish music performed by pianist and harpist Laurie Anne Hunter; pianist Joseph Yungen; flutist Debra Harris; violinist Kathleen Strahm; and singers Shelly Cox-Thornhill, Lindsay Kuzmitz and Jennifer Matsuura. Rogue Valley Symphony — ‘New Years Eve Gala: A Toast to Majkut’: Rogue Valley Symphony will present a glittering gala celebration for the anniversary of Maestro Martin Majkut’s 10th season. Attendees will experience symphonic waltzes, surprise guests and duo pianists Joel Fan and Christine Eggert on Francis Poulenc’s “Concerto for Two Pianos.” The show is set for 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 31, at the Craterian Theater, 23 S. Central Ave., Medford. Silver tickets are $50 and include the concert only. Gold tickets are $75 and will also include a pre-concert champagne and truffle reception and a toast with the Maestro. Platinum tickets are $150 and will include the above experiences plus a ticket to celebrate on stage following the concert with passed hors d’oeuvres, dancing and champagne until midnight.
