Brothers leads Crater

SUTHERLIN — Nick Brothers scored a season-high 24 points and Crater overcame a sizzling first half by Sutherlin in a 69-59 nonconference boys basketball win Monday.

Sutherlin made eight 3-pointers before halftime but managed only one thereafter.

Brothers added seven rebounds, four steals and six assists, and Drew Runberg contributed 12 points and 10 rebounds. Josh Lokeno contributed 14 points and five assists, and Bryce Peila had four steals for Crater (4-2)

Former Comet Spencer Hutchings, now a senior at Sutherlin, scored 13 points.

Pirate post Mike Shepherd had 14 points, 14 rebounds and two blocked shots, and fellow big man Codey Barrett had eight boards to go with 13 points and two blocks. Andrew George added 10 points, six assists and three steals for the Pirates (7-1).

Shianne Tanner provided solid perimeter defense for the Cougars (7-2) to go with 11 points and seven rebounds while Jen King added 10 points and four boards. The Cougars' Alexis Zeller notched seven steals.
