Shepherd powers Phoenix past Henley in OT

KLAMATH FALLS — Phoenix's Mike Shepherd put on an impressive performance Tuesday night.

The Pirates' senior post scored 16 of his game-high 24 points in the fourth quarter and overtime as Phoenix defeated Henley 63-57 in Skyline Conference boys basketball.

Phoenix (11-4, 4-1 Skyline) came back from a three-point deficit to tie the game 47-all in the fourth quarter. The Pirates held the ball for a final attempt, but didn't get a shot off.

Shepherd scored eight points and senior guard Neal Emerson added seven in the overtime period for Phoenix.

Shepherd added a team-best 12 rebounds, while Andrew George contributed 10 points, five rebounds and five assists.

ROGUE RIVER 52, NORTH VALLEY 48 — At Merlin, Carson Frantz and Jackson Mitchell each scored 18 points to lead Rogue River to a Skyline win.

Frantz also blocked seven shots while Kelly White led the Chieftains (3-11, 1-4 Skyline) with six rebounds.

HIDDEN VALLEY 40, ILLINOIS VALLEY 39 — At Murphy, Trevor Porter sank two foul shots for Hidden Valley with 18 seconds left in regulation to put the Mustangs up by one point and keep them undefeated in the Skyline conference.

Porter led Hidden Valley (13-2, 5-0 Skyline) with 14 points, four rebounds and six assists. Saxon Gotfried added 10 points, six assists and five steals.

Brothers also had four rebounds, four assists and four steals. Drew Runberg added 10 points and six rebounds for the Comets while Travis Robbins had six rebounds, five assists and four steals to go with his eight points.

CASCADE CHRISTIAN 59, MYRTLE POINT 44 — Cascade Christian started slow at The Pavilion but Jeremy Cheney and Scott Morse played a big role in keeping the Challengers unbeaten at the end of the first-half of the Sunset schedule.

Cheney posted a double-double with a game-high 23 points and 10 rebounds. The 6-5 senior forward added four blocks and three steals.

Morse put up 19 points to go with nine rebounds, seven blocks and four steals.
