Pirates' defense ties up Miners

PHOENIX — The Phoenix boys basketball team showed a variety of defensive looks and there was nothing Yreka, Calif., could do to answer Monday night.

The stingy Pirates coasted to a 50-18 nonconference win.

Phoenix (3-3) held the Miners scoreless in the third quarter and led 46-9 heading into the final period.

Skyler Reagan and Ben Crichton paced the Pirates (3-3) with 12 points apiece and freshman Alex Young contributed 11, including three 3-pointers.

ROGUE VALLEY ADVENTIST 45, ROGUE RIVER JV 32 — Jordan Parmenter had 14 points and three assists and Jessica Wold added 10 points and eight rebounds to host Rogue Valley Adventist.

Rachel Allen added nine rebounds and seven points for the Red Tail Hawks (2-2).

Brittany Coulter had 16 points to lead the Rogue River JV.
