Challengers cruise past Gold Beach

GOLD BEACH — Gold Beach spent a lot of energy covering Cascade Christian standout Scott Morse, so other players got involved for the Challengers in a 65-32 Sunset League boys basketball win Tuesday.

Jarrod Hess scored 14 points, Eli Hoffman 12 and Wes Litton 10 to lead Cascade Christian. Morse had only five points, but he added eight rebounds, seven assists and three blocks.

Hoffman started for the first time in place of an ill Ben Joffer.

"He did well hitting the open shot," said Challengers coach Brian Morse. "They had two guys on Scott wherever he went, and he'd skip it over to Eli or Hess. They'd be wide open."

Hess added five steals, and Litton, who came off the bench, was 4 of 5 shooting and had five offensive rebounds.

Cascade Christian (11-2, 4-0 Sunset) led by three through one quarter, then outscored the Panthers 16-4 in the second to move into control.
