Bohn spurs Phoenix in split

TALENT — Phoenix sophomore Justin Bohn improved to 5-0 after allowing five hits in the opener and was 2-for-4 with two runs scored in the nightcap of a Skyline Conference baseball split with North Valley Saturday at Hagler-James Field.

Bohn also was 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI as Phoenix opened the doubleheader with a 4-1 triumph over North Valley.

The Knights rallied for a 9-6 victory in Game 2.

Jordan Decker's two-run homer sparked a three-run fifth inning that opened the scoring in Game 1. Kyle Treadway and Kasy Locken each were 2-for-3 with one run.

North Valley scored six runs in the top of the seventh of Game 2 after a two-out error allowed the inning to continue.

Treadway was 2-for-2 with two RBIs and Decker 2-for-3 with one RBI in the nightcap for Phoenix (16-7, 8-4 Skyline), which faces a must-win scenario at home Tuesday against Henley in order to earn a playoff bid.

HIDDEN VALLEY 3-15, ILLINOIS VALLEY 0-3 — At Cave Junction, three runs in the first inning and effective pitching from Mike Suthann guided Hidden Valley to the win in the opener.

Suthann allowed three hits and had 11 strikeouts while walking just one batter.

In Game 2, Dylan Albertson drove in four runs while going 4-for-4 with two doubles and a triple for Hidden Valley (19-4, 11-1 Skyline).

Taylor Bars allowed one hit in three innings of work for Hidden Valley and went 3-for-3 with two RBIs.

CASCADE CHRISTIAN 24-15, GOLD BEACH 8-4 — At White City, Josh Artale drove in two runs off a double and then hit a bases-clearing triple during a 12-run surge in the third inning of the five-inning opener for Cascade Christian.

Jake Miller went 4-for-5 with three RBIs and scored five times for the Challengers in the first game.

In the second five-inning game, the Challengers (14-7, 10-1 Sunset) used a 13-run first inning to separate from Gold Beach.

Garrett Banks went 4-for-4 with two RBIs in Game 2 for Cascade Christian.

LAKEVIEW 20-11, ST. MARY'S 4-5 — First-place Lakeview (14-3, 12-1 District 5) pounded out 16 hits in Game 1 and rolled to the doubleheader sweep at St. Mary's High.

Austin Schrader had two hits in Game 1 for St. Mary's (8-10, 8-6), including a double, and Matt Kimball had three hits in Game 2. Brad Hermann added a double for St. Mary's.
