Indians rally to topple South Medford

ROSEBURG — Luke Hammer scored two goals and Josh Malone tallied the game-winner as Roseburg rallied for a 3-2 victory over South Medford in Southwest Conference boys soccer Tuesday.

The Panthers (6-3, 3-2 SWC) led 1-0 at halftime on Brian Avila's goal off an assist by Humberto Alvarez.

The Indians tied the score five minutes into the second half on a goal by Hammer.

South Medford retook the lead midway through the period when Kodie Artner put a shot into the net. Nate Diaz assisted on the go-ahead goal.

Hammer scored again at the 58th minute to knot the score 2-2, then Josh Malone headed in the winning goal four minutes later.

Roseburg had eight shots on goal to six for South Medford.

NORTH MEDFORD 0, SHELDON 0 — Danny Formolo recorded a pair of huge saves to keep the shutout for North Medford, its first of the season.

Black Tornado coach Chris Gallegos singled out the defense of sweeper Kyle Lipscomb.

North Medford (3-5-1, 0-4-1 SWC) outshot Sheldon, 20-6.

SOUTH EUGENE 2, GRANTS PASS 0 — At Eugene, Daley Stevens and Raul Salgado each scored to lead host South Eugene to the win.

Brian Fawcett had 15 saves for Grants Pass (2-6-1, 1-4 SWC).

Southern Sky Conference

CRATER 8, EAGLE POINT 0 — At Central Point, J.D. Walker scored two goals and had an assist to lead host Crater to the win.

Matt Crowl, Emanuel Estrada, Shane Vanderzwan, Omar Mendez and Ivan Ramirez also scored for the Comets (5-4-1, 3-1 SSC). Eagle Point had an own goal.

Crater goalkeepers Ben Purtzer and Tony Ramirez combined for seven saves and the shutout.

Skyline Conference

HIDDEN VALLEY 2, NORTH VALLEY 1 — At Merlin, Sean Murphy scored the game-winning goal in the 31st minute.

Teammate Kyle Nelson put the Mustangs ahead 1-0 with a goal in the fifth minute on an assist from Robin Klimczak. Blake Andreasen was strong in goal with a couple late saves.

Isaiah McLittle scored North Valley's goal.

District 3

CANYONVILLE CHRISTIAN 4, ROGUE RIVER 1 — At Canyonville, Alex Mikue and Hyun-il Yoo each scored two goals for host Canyonville Christian.

Dustin Krouse netted Rogue River's (4-5, 4-5 SCL) lone goal off an assist from Brian Stinchcomb in the 42nd minute.
