Errors doom North against Sheldon
Fifth-ranked Sheldon overcame an early deficit to route host North Medford, 22-25, 25-11, 25-15, 25-11, in a Southwest Conference match Thursday evening.
The Black Tornado had few errors and pulled away with stellar play late in the first game, coach Erika Wright said. However, the Irish is the team that withheld errors for most of the match and North Medford racked up the errors.
"For that first game performance, we didn't make very many errors and we forced them to make errors," Wright said. "Then in the second, third and fourth games, we started making more errors. We made more serving errors, more hitting errors and more serve-passing errors and that was the difference in the match."
Senior Danielle Boyd had nine kills and two blocks to lead the Black Tornado, which dropped to 2-4 in conference.
Hillevi Johnson added 11 digs and five kills, and Caiti Barrie had three kills and three blocks for North Medford.
Conference-leading Sheldon is 6-0 and has only dropped two sets in SWC competition.
