Comet boys make good showing at Nike meet
BOISE, Idaho — The Crater boys cross country team finished third out of 23 teams at the Nike Northwest Regional Saturday.
The event drew teams and individuals from seven states.
Josh Elliott finished 26th to lead the Comet contingent. The four other Crater runners were Max Runia, Jon Obeso, Kade Jensen and Hunter Sanders.
Wilder Schaaf of Ashland was the top local boys finisher at ninth in the 5K race.
Drew Jordan, the two-time Class 6A state cross country champion from North Medford, finished 25th. Ryan Perry of South Medford also had a good performance.
Lauren Morgan from South Medford was the best among local girls.
North Central Washington High from Spokane, No. 3 in the ESPN national rankings, won the boys team title. The top two teams qualify for the Nike National cross country meet in Portland Dec. 5. Crater is in contention for one of four at-large bids to the meet.
