Pirates stand third at Coast Classic

NORTH BEND — Nick Amuchastegui led six Phoenix wrestlers into the quarterfinals at the 30-team Coast Classic at North Bend High School on Friday.

The top-ranked 160-pounder, along with Nick Renfro, Eleazar Deluca, Robby Blubaugh, Josh Warden and Brett Carder, led the Pirates to third place with 55 points after the first day of the two-day event.

North Medford enters today's final action in fifth place and Eagle Point is in ninth. Roseburg is well ahead of the pack in first place.

The Black Tornado advanced eight wrestlers to the final day, while Eagle Point had five move on.

CRATER 7, EUGENE 3 — Bryce Crawford scored three goals and had an assist to lead Crater to the win at The RRRink.

Teammates Daniel Gomez and Jake Randol each had two goals.

Randol and Cody Martin both added two assists.

Comets goalie Brad Arkens had 11 saves.

Riley Kulm scored twice and teammate Mario Perez added 23 saves for Eugene.
