Prospect netters rally past Powers

POWERS — Prospect used strong frontline play and effective serving in a season-opening volleyball victory over Powers Friday.

The Cougars defeated the Cruisers, 16-25, 28-26, 25-18, 27-25.

Sophomore middle/setter Heather Lass paced Prospect with 15 kills and four blocks. Lass also contributed 19 assists and was 14-of-15 serving.

Taylor Bernhardt and Kristalyn Mahoney had strong net games. Bernhardt, a freshman middle, provided eight kills and one block, while Mahoney, a junior rightside, added seven kills.

Cougar senior Lindsey Baker led from the service line with eight aces and won 26 of 28 service points. Junior setter Kristen Reynolds dished out 18 assists.

Prospect served at 87 percent and pounded 21 aces.

Boys Soccer

ROGUE RIVER 6, DOUGLAS 0 — At Winston, Rogue River got six goals from six different players in the season-opening win.

Brandon Kynsi scored in the second minute and Shaq Poston in the 30th to give the Chieftains a 2-0 halftime edge.

Dawson Jacobs' goal in the 79th minute completed the rout.
