Bohn accounts for six TDs in Phoenix win

PHOENIX — Justin Bohn had quite the performance for the Phoenix Pirates Friday night.

The senior quarterback passed for four touchdowns and ran for two more as Phoenix defeated Brookings-Harbor 46-13 at Jack Woodward Stadium.

Phoenix led 21-13 at halftime, then blanked the Bruins the rest of the way.

While the Phoenix defense adjusted to stop the Brookings double-wing attack, Bohn accounted for all four Pirate touchdowns after intermission.

"We made some defensive adjustments at halftime to slow them down," Phoenix coach Toby Walker said. "Our kids executed the assignments and the adjustments worked."

Phoenix took the second-half kickoff and went 73 yards for a touchdown. Bohn's 11-yard TD pass to Brandon Weber capped the six-minute drive.

On the Bruins' next possession, Kyle Treadway forced a fumble and recovered the ball on the Brookings 20. On the first play, Bohn connected with Jason Gage on a screen pass for a touchdown.

The Pirates first touchdown came on a 53-yard TD pass to Austin Toney. The pair hooked up from eight yards on the final Phoenix touchdown of the game.

Bohn was 17-of-26 passing for 342 yards. He added 115 yards rushing on nine carries. Toney had nine receptions for 193 yards.

"Justin Bohn, with his arms and feet, is a threat," said Walker. "And Austin Toney is our go-to guy. He's a big-play kid on the offensive side of the ball."
