Prospect splits road twin bill

TRIANGLE LAKE — Prospect beat Gilchrist, 25-11, 25-19, 25-14, and lost to Triangle Lake, 22-25, 25-9, 25-21, 9-25, 16-14, in a volleyball doubleheader Friday.

In the first game, Kristalyn Mahoney had eight kills, 10 digs and was 14-of-15 serving with five aces for the Cougars (4-2, 1-1 Mountain Valley League). Taylor Bernhardt had seven kills and three blocks, and Heather Lass was 25-of-25 serving with 16 assists and two blocks.

Against Triangle Lake, Lass had nine kills, 10 assists, nine blocks and 11 digs. Kristen Reynolds notched 15 assists and Shelby Zelnar had six kills and three blocks.

HOSANNA CHRISTIAN 3, BUTTE FALLS 1 — At Klamath Falls, Butte Falls dropped to 0-2 in the Mountain Valley League with a 25-18, 27-29, 25-22, 25-18 setback.

Beth Sutfin had 11 kills and Bessie Taylor 10 for the Loggers. Mariah Moore was the top server, producing seven aces.

PHOENIX 3, SOUTH UMPQUA 1 — At Phoenix, Phoenix got 25 digs from Kelsey Bradfield and 16 kills from Megan Cheyne in a 25-17, 25-15, 19-25, 25-13 nonconference win over South Umpqua Thursday. The Pirates are 1-1 overall.
