Pelicans prevail in battle of Skyline unbeatens
MURPHY — In a battle of undefeated Skyline Conference boys soccer teams, Klamath Union's Julio Barajas recorded two goals and an assist to help lift the Pelicans to a 4-1 victory over Hidden Valley on Wednesday.
Thomas Lund scored on a Barajas assist in the 18th minute to put KU (8-0, 5-0 Sky) on the scoreboard first. Sean Murphy evened things at 1 after connecting on a penalty kick seven minutes later.
Victor Rios netted a goal in the 57th minute and then Barajas scored twice — once in the 58th minute and then again on a Jose Meza assist in the 75th — to give the Pelicans some insurance against the Mustangs (6-2, 4-1 Sky).
GLIDE 2, ROGUE RIVER 0 — At Glide, Glide's Caroline Brown scored a goal in the first and second half in the District 4 match.
Brown netted goals in the 11th an 65th minutes against Rogue River (3-4, 1-2 Dist. 4).
Midfielder Allison Coulter created some good offensive opportunities and goalkeeper Brittany Coulter recorded 12 saves against the Wildcats (7-2, 2-1 Dist. 4). Micaila Miguel and Lindsey Miguel played solid defense for the Chieftains.
