Cascade Christian grabs boys SCH opener

The paint presence of David Sellers and Eric Morse for the Cascade Christian boys basketball team overwhelmed Rogue River on Friday at Cascade Christian High School.

Sellers and Morse took over in the second quarter, scoring all of the Challengers' points in the frame en route to a 60-35 victory in their Southern Cascade Hybrid debut over the Chieftains.

"Sellers and Morse, those two killed us inside," said Rogue River coach Ron Haynes. "Our game plan was to keep them off the glass and from getting inside lay-ins, but we couldn't match up with their size and that was the bottom line."

Sellers, a 6-foot-6 sophomore post, scored 10 of his 16 points in the second quarter for the Challengers (10-4, 1-0 SCH). He went 5-for-5 from the floor in the period.

Morse dropped in the Cascade's other six points on his way to an 18-point night.

"We had great ball movement and did a good job hitting Sellers," said Challengers coach Brian Morse. "He did a good job flashing to the basket and we did a good job hitting him when he was open and he just converted down low.

"They had no answer for him. No one was tall enough to defend him down low."

Sellers finished 8-for-9 from the field and Morse added four assists and four steals. Alex Miller notched nine points.

Shawn Donahue paced the Chieftains (3-10, 0-2 SCH) with 16 points.
